About Loralei
Loralei Poll is a native of Arizona and graduated from Coronado High School in Scottsdale. Loralei has lived in District One for 21 years and is married to her husband Charlie. Together they have five children ranging in age from 12 to 29 years of age and two wonderful daughter-in-laws. She is also the proud grandmother of two.
Loralei worked for the City of Scottsdale for thirteen years in Purchasing. During a brief break in government service, she worked in real estate. In 2000, Loralei went to work for the State of Arizona in Procurement and Contract administration, working for the Arizona's Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, Department of Transportation and Department of Economic Security. During this time, she completed her Bachelor's degree in Information Technology specializing as a Business System's Analyst from the University of Phoenix.
During her 19 plus years working for the government, she has acted as a facilitator, trainer and project manager on the implementation of 4 automated computer systems. She writes procedures for existing processes and identifies ways to improve these processes. She is an advocate for keeping government small by ensuring a collaborative, efficient and accountable government. Today, Loralei works with the Tempe Union High School District as the Purchasing Director.
Loralei recently completed her term as President for the Arizona Capitol Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), which represents 45 plus agencies in the Phoenix area. Loralei has served her community in various ways, including Cubmaster for the Boy Scouts of America and as Union President for AZ Department of Transportation addressing employee issues and working with her house representative to get long overdue raises for State employees. She recently completed a nine month part-time Leadership Fellowship with the Center for Progressive Leadership, a non-partisan, non-profit national leadership institute.
She has dedicated her life as a public servant and enjoys making a positive difference in other people's lives. Loralei's experience in the government sector gives her a unique insight on government operations and the issues that face our great City. Instead of enforcing policy, she feels it is time to help set policies that will shape our City and the directions it takes for the future.
